Abstract

ABSTRACT. Malaria is a chronic and acute disease caused by protozoa of the type Plasmodium. Naturally, Plasmodium sp. transmitted to humans by female mosquito vectors of the type Anopheles sp. Transmission can also occur by direct induction of inoculation of infected red blood cells through transfusion, needles or congenital from the mother to the baby she is carrying. Some of the main signs and symptoms of this disease are chills, high fever, headaches, anemia and enlarged spleen (splenomegaly). According to WHO, the number of malaria sufferers worldwide is estimated at 154-289 million in 2010 with the number of deaths from 490,000 to 836,000 people and the majority of cases occur in children under 5 years. Based on data from the Health Profile of Bitung City in 2015, the number of findings of patients with malaria symptoms in the 2014-2015 period reached 5071 cases and 569 were confirmed positive with P. falciparum 81%, P. vivax 15%, and 4% Mixed. Liver involvement in malaria is a common occurrence in patients with malaria and may show jaundice or so-called jaundice due to increased serum bilirubin, hepatomegaly, and the possibility of an increase in liver enzyme activity such as Aspartate Transaminase (AST / SGOT) and Alanine Transaminase (ALT / ALT / ALT / SGPT). This study aims to analyze the effect ofdensity Plasmodium spon SGPT / SGOT levels in Malaria Patients in Bitung City. The study population was malaria sufferers in Bitung City in April to October 2016. Samples were determined by accidental sampling, namely malaria sufferers from April to August who came to check themselves at the Puskesmas and hospitals in Bitung City, totaling 30 patients. The results of the Density study Plasmodium sp.in 30 malaria sufferers consisted of 28 cases +, and 2 cases +++. Statistical test results did not have any effect between density Plasmodium spon SGPT / SGOT levels in Malaria Patients in Bitung City. To related institutions, the Bitung City Health Office needs to map malaria cases with asystem buffering to determine the pattern of malaria transmission so that malaria vector control is right on target. Handling / treatment of malaria sufferers should not only focus on the parasite but must also be accompanied by treatment of clinical symptoms experienced by the sufferer, namely decreased liver function.
