Abstract

In order to support the fulfillment of clean water needs, especially in the islands, it is necessary to develop distillation equipment from previous research to obtain clean water optimally, both the quantity and quality of processed water. This type of research is experimental quasi-(Quasi Experiment), using factorial design (Factorial design). Initial measurement of seawater samples with variable salinity, turbidity and pH before being inserted into the destilator unit. Then the sea water sample is put into a 3 cm distillation unit carried out by heating the sun with a combination of electric element heaters for 6 hours, the water will evaporate and flow to the reservoir of clean water. The clean water produced by the destilator will be measured for salinity, turbidity and pH and the volume of water produced. The population and sample in this study were seawater taken on the coast of Manado. Data from research results are presented in table form and analyzed univariate and bivariate using the T Test as a statistical test by comparing the results of measurements before and after processing using a distiller. The destilator tool can produce clean water (fresh water) with details on the first treatment with natural heat sources of sunlight to produce clean water (fresh water) 0.17 liters / day. The second treatment with electric heating equivalent to 300 watts produces clean water (fresh water) 2.45 liters / day and in the third treatment with an electric heat source equivalent to 450 watts produces 3.54 liters / day of clean water (fresh water).
