Abstract

Gastritis is a disease that is most often caused by eating disorders, the habit of consuming spicy and acidic foods and the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin. The content of antioxidants and vitamin C in lime juice plays a role in increasing stomach protection and the ability to regenerate cells as well as anti-inflammatory. Pumpkin sap can protect the stomach from stimulation, and reduce stomach ulcers. This study aims to determine the gastric histopathology of male white rats (Rattus Novergicus) given lime juice (Citrus aurantifolia s.) And pumpkin juice (Cucurbita moschata (Duch.) Poir with different doses after being induced by capsaicin and aspirin. This type of research is experimental with a post test only control group design. The tested animals were 51 male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) divided into 17 treatment groups, each consisting of 3 rats. All mice that had finished their treatment period were terminated and then examined histopathologically. The results of this study indicate that the rats in the negative control group (KN) or those who did not get the treatment had a gastric histopathological picture with normal gastric characteristics. The capsaicin and aspirin-induced groups of mice showed moderate histopathological lesions. The group of mice induced with capsaicin or aspirin then intervened with lime juice, generally showed a moderate degree of inflammation and only at a dose of 1 ml showed an improvement in erosion of the gastric mucosa. The group of mice induced with capsaicin or aspirin then intervened with pumpkin juice, showed an improvement in the histopathology of the rats' stomach. Conclusion: The administration of 1 ml lime juice can suppress erosion or inflammation of the gastric mucosa of rats caused by induction of capsaicin and aspirin. Giving pumpkin juice at doses of 2 ml and 3 ml can improve inflammation of the gastric mucosa due to capsaicin induction.
